DRESS IT UP/DRESS IT CASUAL
Not sure what to wear when you first meet the partner's parents? When you head to your best mates 30th? When the invite says "dress in something starting with the letter S"? Decoding the dress code can be a fine art. The Calibre man is always prepared. The motto: better to be overdressed than underdressed, no matter the occasion! Here are some quick tips to make sure you're not turning heads for all the wrong reasons at your next rendezvous:1) Black tie means black tie. Don't try jazz it up when it comes to black tie, classic is best. A tailored black dinner suit or tuxedo with a French cuff shirt, bow tie and black dress shoe will achieve style respect from all attending the event.
2) Cocktail, also known as lounge suit, is a time you can throw a bit of colour in the mix. Spice it up through your accessories. Feel free to go for a non-black suit such as navy or dark charcoal. Best to avoid lighter suit colours in winter but you can certainty get away with something lighter, like a taupe suit in summer. Team your suit back with a smart shirt and tie. Depending upon the event, some occasions may not require a tie; it is best to check with the host or hostess when unsure.
3) Smart Casual, means just that, keep your casual look, smart. Don't dress as if you are off to the local. You can ditch the suit but a sportscoat and shirt with a tailored trouser is the ideal combo. Again, play with colour. You want to make sure you stand out and show off your personal style.
