Date Night: Cecconi's Flinders Lane

Nov 09, 2014 - Calibre

When you’re looking to impress your other half, perfect date night restaurants are hard to come by. Hot new restaurants are a dime a dozen in the glorious city of Melbourne, yet sometimes ‘hot’ and ‘new’ doesn’t equal a great night out. That is why when the time comes for wining and dining, Cecconi’s on Flinders Lane will never let you down.

Family owned for over 30 years, 2014 has seen Cecconi’s relaunch with the same traditional values at heart, with a little added funk.

Located in a surprisingly airy basement on the loftier end of the CBD, Cecconi’s décor promises fine dining. Rich wood and white cloth accompany wait staff that are both attentive and friendly – something hard to come by at some other more ‘prestigious’ establishments.

The Spring menu has something for even the most pedantic eater, with al-dente tortellini, tender scotch fillet, or flaky ocean trout all knock-outs. Cecconi’s pride themselves on using only the freshest ingredients in their dishes, whether they are locally sourced, organic, or picked straight from the family run farm. Dessert is too good to be missed, with the tasting plate (three desserts of the chefs choosing) always a winning choice.

Naturally, the wine list is also superb, boasting a wide list of both Italian and Australian wines – which can be savoured in both the main restaurant or at the Cellar Bar (which also serves breakfast).

No matter the occasion, impress by booking a table at Cecconi’s on Flinders Lane – you can thank us afterwards!
