Brazilian born model Diego Miguel steps out from behind the lens of Calibre’s Summer 2014 shoot to tell us a little about himself. Ranked in the Top 50 male models in the world, we found out how he keeps fit and what he loved about the new collection.

How did you get into modelling?
I was in the middle of a breakdance battle at a nightclub when a scouter from my city came and started talking to me about modelling.

What is your favourite part of your job?
My favourite part of the job is the travel. I love travelling from city to city, discovering new things from each place. You learn a lot from the experience.

What can’t you get through the day without?
Good energy, reading the newspaper or a book, and music.

What’s your ultimate holiday destination?
Bora bora.

What is the coolest shoot you have ever done?
That is a tricky one! Each job is so different, but my most memorable would be an editorial I did in Bali. It is such a beautiful place, and I loved the beaches.

Favourite guilty-pleasure food?
Chocolate!

How to do you keep fit?
I love to run and practise muay thai.

What is your go-to outfit?
Jeans, sneakers and simple t-shirt.

Favourite piece from Calibre’s Summer ’14 collection?
I love the suits! They all fit me perfectly.

How did you learn to do those backflips?
I started Capoeira, which is a martial art from Brazil. It helped me with my breakdancing, and taught me how to backflip.
